Piikani RCMP charge man with firearm offences

BROCKET, AB – On March 18, 2024, Piikani RCMP located a blue GMC pickup truck at a residence near Brocket which had previously been involved in a flight from police in Fort Macleod on March 12, 2024.

A search warrant was conducted at the residences which resulted in the seizure of seven rifles, ammunition and miscellaneous firearms parts.

Jessie Flett (37) was charged with 23 criminal offenses, including but not limited to:

  • Unlawful possession of a firearm (x7)
  • Unsafe storage of a firearm (x7)
  • Possession contrary to prohibition order (x8)
  • Possession of stolen property under $5000

Flett was also charged under the Traffic Safety Act for being the registered owner of a vehicle involved in dangerous driving and failure to stop for police. He was also charged for entering land without permission under the Petty Trespass Act.

A judicial interim release hearing was held and Flett was remanded into custody. He will appear in court on March 28, 2024 in Pincher Creek.
