City of Lethbridge renews master services agreement with AHS

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The City of Lethbridge has renewed its master services agreement with Alberta Health Services (AHS).

On Tuesday, March 26, 2024, Lethbridge City Council approved a new two and a half year agreement with AHS to deliver emergency medical services through Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services (LFES).

The agreement will continue to support the use of four ground ambulances around the clock, and up to 10 ambulances each day during peak-demand hours of noon to 7 p.m.

LFES Chief Greg Adair said, “AHS has been an excellent partner through these negotiations, and we remain committed to working together on solutions that will provide the best long-term, sustainable EMS care for our community.”

According to the City of Lethbridge, the renewed contract reduces the tax supported dollars needed to operate the service. Adair added, “We will continue to adapt to the challenges ahead and find ways to innovate and improve our services for the benefit of Lethbridge residents.”

In addition, the City says the LFES leadership team is actively exploring ways to enhance operational efficiency and service delivery.
