City Clerk to host informational session on municipal government

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Residents looking to learn more about municipal government or running for office are invited to an informational session later this month.

On April 25, 2024, City Clerk with the City of Lethbridge, Bonnie Hilford, will host an event covering topics such as:

  • The decision-making process, including the role of council, administration, the public and council’s Boards, Commissions and Committees
  • The meeting process, including what happens at a committee and in council meetings and how they are related
  • Legislation, including Acts, Regulations, Bylaws and Policies and Resolutions
  • Who does what with regards to the municipal, provincial and federal governments
  • The election process

The session on April 25 will be from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at City Hall, with the option to attend the Governance Standing Policy Committee meeting at 1:30.

Those interested in attending can email CityClerk@lethbridge.ca to reserve their spot.

Additionally, the City of Lethbridge hosts its next ‘Community Conversation’ that same day. It will give residents the chance to speak with officials and learn about City-led projects and services.
