LETHBRIDGE, AB – It will soon be time to grab the doggy bags.

Ahead of June’s Dog Waste Awareness Month, the City of Lethbridge will host five dog park cleanups throughout the month of May.

Volunteers will assist in removing dog waste and leave a flag in its place to bring awareness to the issue of leaving your dog’s business on the ground. The flags will stay up for two weeks.

The City says gloves and bags will be provided and those interested in helping can contact parksvolunteer@lethbridge.ca.

“Remember, there is no Poop Fairy! Your dog’s mess is your responsibility no matter where they do their doo doo,” reads a notice from the City.

Events will take place every Thursday in May from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the following locations:

  • May 2, 2024: Scenic Drive Dog Run (1107 6 Street South)
  • May 9: Popson Park Off Leash Area (entrance from 10 Street South)
  • May 16: RiverStone Dog Park (4 Rivergrove Lane West)
  • May 23: Peenaquim Park Off Leash Area (entrance from Stafford Drive North or Scenic Drive North)
  • May 30: Park ‘n’ Bark (located at the corner of Stafford Drive North and Scenic Drive North)
