Coaldale man charged in connection with robbery

COALDALE, AB – The RCMP has charged a southern Alberta man in connection to a robbery.

The Coaldale RCMP says that on Monday, April 8, 2024, at around 11:15 a.m., officers were sent out to a report of an armed robbery at a bank in the town.

Police say the investigation found that a male suspect gave a note to the bank teller requesting money. There was allegedly a threat that another individual was outside the building with a firearm.

A suspect was later identified, and officers arrested the individual at a home in the community.

Coaldale resident Jason Wieler, 28, has been charged with the following:

  • Robbery with a firearm
  • Possession of property obtained by crime

Wieler has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to be in court in Lethbridge on April 11.
