Fort Macleod announces by-election date and candidates

FORT MACLEOD, AB – Residents are set to head to the polls following the resignation of a councillor in a southern Alberta community.

In February, Marco Van Huigenbois announced he was stepping away from Fort Macleod town council. As a result, a by-election will be held on May 6, 2024 to fill his seat.

The Town says the official candidates are:

  • Werner Dressler
  • Bill Hall
  • Jeemeet Patel
  • Sydney Tobler

A candidate forum will be hosted by the Town and Fort Macleod & District Chamber of Commerce on April 30 at 7 p.m. at the GR Davis Administration Building.

The event will be streamed live on the Town of Fort Macleod YouTube channel.

Forum questions must be submitted in advance to the Chamber at fmchamber1888@gmail.com.

On by-election day May 6, voting will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the GR Davis Administration Building gymnasium.
