Joe Arntsen signs with AHL’s Abbotsford Canucks

LETHBRIDGE, AB – A member of the Lethbridge Hurricanes has inked a new deal with a club in the American Hockey League (AHL).

The Abbotsford Canucks are the AHL’s affiliate for the NHL’s Vancouver Canucks.

Joe Arntsen, 20, was first signed by the Hurricanes in the second round (35 overall) in the 2018 WHL Prospects Draft.

Hailing from Dinsmore, Saskatchewan, he appeared in 268 career regular season games with Lethbridge, collecting 106 points (27g-79a), along with 321 penalty minutes.

The 6’3″, 221-pound defenceman finished 10th all-time in games played this past season and is ninth all-time in rearguard scoring (106).

He was named a two-time recipient of the Herman Elfring Community Relations Award (2023 and 2024) and the Hurricanes Top Defenceman (2023).

In the 2023-24 WHL season, he totalled 34 goals (6g-18a) along with 75 penalty minutes.

Arntsen will report to Abbotsford for the remainder of the 2023-24 season.
