Piikani RCMP lay charges following traffic stop

BROCKET, AB – A southern Alberta man has been charged following a traffic stop.

The Piikani Nation RCMP says on April 11, 2024, an officer was alerted to a possible case of impaired driver. The RCMP conducted a traffic stop and found one person in the vehicle.

Brocket resident Nigel Big Weasel, 40, was bound by a release order stemming from multiple charges, according to police.

Following the stop, Big Weasel was charged with:

  • Possession of a controlled substance
  • Four counts of failing to comply with a release order

The charged was also issued provincial sanctions for impaired driving and his driver’s license was suspended. Big Weasel is scheduled to be in court on April 17.
