RCMP arrest man following stolen vehicle investigation

VULCAN, AB – A man has been arrested following an RCMP investigation into stolen vehicles in Vulcan.

On April 7, 2024, Vulcan RCMP responded to a complaint of a stolen vehicle at a property in rural Vulcan County. Upon arrival, police say a man fled the property in a stolen GMC Sierra pick up truck and was arrested shortly after.

Two days later, the RCMP Southern Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit (SAD CRU), along with the Auto Theft Unit and Vulcan RCMP searched the property. On scene, they found:

  • 12 stolen pick up trucks
  • A stolen travel trailer
  • 2 stolen utility trailers
  • 2 stolen dirt bikes

Police also said there was evidence that the property was being used as a chop shop. All of the vehicles and trailers were stolen from Calgary and surrounding communities, and all registered owners have been notified.

William McIntosh, 30, of Okotoks faces the following charges:

  • Flight from police
  • Assault on a police officer causing bodily harm
  • Resisting arrest
  • Failure to comply with release conditions (x6)
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000
  • Possession of a controlled substance- crystal meth
  • Possession of a controlled substance- fentanyl

McIntosh was remanded into custody and will appear in court in Lethbridge on April 26.
