COALDALE, AB – A town in southern Alberta is gearing up for an exciting run this weekend.

The annual Coaldale Family 5K Fun Run is set for Saturday, April 20, 2024.

The event is organized by Coaldale Christian School and not only serves as a way to enjoy the outdoors and get some exercise, but also helps a local cause.

Officials say for every entry, $2 will be donated to the Rehoboth Christian Ministries, which is a charitable organization dedicated to supporting individuals with disabilities and their families.

“It’s incredible to see the community come together in such a meaningful way,” says Jacob Wiebe, lead organizer of the event.

“By participating in this event, not only are individuals embracing an active lifestyle, but they are also making a difference in the lives of others.”

Additionally, proceeds from Saturday’s event well help with the 2024 Southern Alberta Summer Games, hosted by Coaldale from July 3 to 6.

The Coaldale Family 5K Fun Run kicks off at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Coaldale Christian School. Registration will remain open until April 19, with signup available online.

There will also be prizes following the run for different categories, like fastest in each age, largest corporate and school teams, among others.
