LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Main Branch of the Lethbridge Public Library (LPL) has new art displays.

The two pieces were done by Indigenous artists, with Awaaniiyaawa (They Are Speaking) by Faye HeavyShield and Niitoyis itsinika’si (Lodge Stories and History) by Api’soomaahka/William Singer III.

Officials with the LPL says the features represent a convergence of art, culture and stories while serving as “powerful reflections of the diverse narratives that shape our community.”

“We are pleased to be part of this partnership with Lethbridge Public Art that not only highlights the voices of local artists, but also shares the history and perspective of the traditional occupants of this land,” says LPL CEO Terra Plato.

Both artists will be at the downtown library on April 27, 2024 at 1 p.m. to discuss their work.
