AltaLink performing air patrols over southern and central Alberta this week

LETHBRIDGE, AB – You might notice an AltaLink helicopter flying over your community this week.

The company says it is conducting an aerial patrol of its electrical transmission facilities around parts of the province. The annual work allows the company to do a visual check of its transmission lines and surrounding vegetation.

The patrols will start on April 29, 2024 and are expected to be done by May 2, weather permitting.

The following communities may see an AltaLink helicopter in their area over the scheduled days:

  • Lethbridge
  • Lethbridge County
  • Fort Macleod
  • Taber
  • Cypress County
  • Medicine Hat
  • County of Newell
  • Brooks
  • Foothills County
  • Vulcan County
  • Wheatland County
  • Strathmore
  • Chestermere
  • Rocky View County

The company says when conducting its patrols, it is mindful to minimize disruption to residences, area users, livestock and wildlife. Anyone with concerns can contact AltaLink at 1-877-267-1453.
