FORT MACLEOD, AB – This summer, Fort Macleod is celebrating its 150th anniversary.

The southern Alberta town was established by 150 North-West Mounted Police (NWMP) in 1874 as the first police post in present-day Alberta. The men named the post after its founder, Assistant Commissioner James F. Macleod.

The town will host festivities from June 24 to July 1, 2024, including music along Main Street and a variety of local treasures at the Main Street Sidewalk Sale.

The night will be illuminated by a drone show to accompany the Midnight Days PRO RODEO.

A special show on June 29 will feature live performances from The Washboard Union, Raquel Cole, Eric Ethridge and Kalsey Kulyk.

“We are thrilled to host this incredible lineup of artists as part of Fort Macleod’s 150th Birthday Celebration,” says Mackenzie Hengerer, 150th Celebration Committee Council Chair.

“This country concert promises to be a highlight of our week-long festivities, bringing together the community for a night of music and celebration.”
