LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) is continuing its investigation into a robbery last April.

Police have pursued multiple avenues of investigation, but no arrest has been made. They have released more details to attempt to get more potential tips or leads.

On April 23, 2023, LPS responded to a report of a break and enter at a home along the 2000 block of South Parkside Drive South. A 72-year-old woman reported that an unknown male rang her doorbell an identified himself as a police officer.

The woman said he proceeded to unlock her door, forced his way inside and pushed her to the ground before blindfolding her. The suspect allegedly demanded cash, and when the woman said she did not have any, he took her bank cards from her wallet, forced her into her vehicle and made her drive to the bank, sitting in the backseat behind her and hiding his face.

Upon arrival at the ATB Financial along the 600 block of Mayor Magrath Drive South, the woman withdrew cash and gave it to the suspect, before he had her drive back home. Police say the suspect asked for paprika and chili powder before leaving, and when she gave him the chili powder, he spread it on the driveway.

The victim was unharmed, but said the man threatened to hurt her or her family if she called police.

The suspect is described as approximately 5’9” tall, average or muscular build, in his late 20s or 30s, wearing all black clothing, gloves and a face covering.

Anyone with any information on the incident or suspect is asked to call police at 403-328-4444 and reference file 23008867.
