Two killed, one injured in collision west of Claresholm

CLARESHOLM, AB – The RCMP is investigating a serious collision in southern Alberta.

It occurred at approximately 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, on Highway 22, about five kilometres north of Highway 520.

The initial investigation from the RCMP revealed that a southbound vehicle may have crossed the centre line and collided with a northbound vehicle.

The driver of the southbound vehicle, a 38-year-old man from Calgary, was declared deceased at the scene.

Two people in the northbound vehicle were taken to hospital in Calgary. The passenger, a 72-year-old woman from Calgary, died in hospital, while the male driver was seriously injured.

Road and weather conditions are believed to have been factors in the collision.

There is no word at this time as to whether or not charges will be laid.
