City teams with police for new bike safety videos

LETHBRIDGE, AB – A new video series highlights safety tips for both cyclists and motorists.

The City of Lethbridge has partnered with the Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) to produce a two-part series. The videos were filmed downtown to show residents how to safely navigate new bike lanes.

Sergeant Ryan Darroch of the Downtown Police Unit is featured and guides viewers through safety messaging and tips. Oftentimes, the unit patrols the downtown area on bicycles.

Part one of the series, which focuses on safety messaging for motorists, is available to view below.

The City says part two will focus on tips for cyclists and will be released later in May.

WORKSHOP

In addition to the video series, the City of Lethbridge will host a Can Bike cycling skills workshop on June 22, 2024. It is designed for people with beginner-level experience on a bicycle.

Participants have to be over the age of 18 to register, with registration opening in the coming weeks. Further details will be provided at the City website and Facebook page.
