Fort Macleod elects new councillor

FORT MACLEOD, AB – A by-election was held in a southern Alberta town on Monday.

Fort Macleod voters went to the polls to select a new councillor, who will fill a seat vacated by Marco Van Huigenbois earlier this year.

The preliminary results list Jeemeet Patel as the winner, with 168 votes, followed by:

  • Sydney Tobler – 106 votes
  • Werner Dressler – 97 votes
  • William (Bill) Hall – Seven votes

Elections Alberta shows that the Town of Fort Macleod has 2,470 eligible voters. The Town says the by-election saw 378 people head to the polls, for a 15 per cent voter turnout.

Officials results from the by-election will be announced on May 10, 2024.
