Enzo Didomenicantonio, Aydan Murphy selected by Lethbridge in US Priority Draft

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes have chosen a forward and a goalie as the Western Hockey League (WHL) held its annual US Priority Draft on Wednesday, May 8, 2024.

ENZO DIDOMENICANTONIO

With the 13th overall pick in the first round, the Lethbridge Hurricanes selected 15-year-old forward Enzo Didomenicantonio. The skater from Los Angeles appeared in 62 regular season games with the Los Angeles Jr. Kings 14U team in 2023-24. He recorded 102 points (45 goals, 57 assists) along with 56 penalty minutes.

Didomenicantonio led the Jr. Kings in scoring by 52 points, while leading the team in goals. The 5’6”, 135 lbs. forward finished 20th in the 14U AAA league. In four playoff games, he scored four goals and had two assists to go along with two penalty minutes.

The 15-year-old has experience in Alberta, having played at the Brick Invitational in Edmonton in 2018-19, where he collected four points (one goal, three assists) and two penalty minutes in six games with the Western Selects.

In round two, Lethbridge selected goaltender Aydan Murphy with the 35th overall pick.

From Surprise, Arizona, Murphy posted a 3.50 goals against average (GAA) and a .878 save percentage with the Phoenix Jr. Coyotes 14U team during the 2023-24 regular season. The 6’0, 150 lbs. goalie spent the 2022-23 season with the Arizona Hockey Union 14U AA team. He appeared in 10 games with the team, securing a 5.31 GAA and an .864 save percentage.

WHL PROSPECTS DRAFT

Up next is the 2024 WHL Prospects Draft on Thursday, May 9. The draft starts at 10 a.m. with the first round streamed on the WHL YouTube channel and on CHLTV.
