Lethbridge man sentenced to four years for aggravated assault

LETHBRIDGE, AB – A man from Lethbridge will spend the next four years behind bars.

During a recent appearance in the Lethbridge Court of Justice, a 61-year-old man learned his fate.

The Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) said it was called to a home in the Fairmont subdivision on the south side on September 23, 2022.

The man and a woman of the same age were both found with stab wounds.

According to police, the man had stabbed the woman and then caused his own injuries.

He was sentenced on one count of aggravated assault. Other charges, including attempted murder, had previously been withdrawn.

The man also faces a 10-year firearms prohibition.

His name cannot be released in order to protect the identity of the victim.
