MEDICINE HAT, AB – Blowers and Grafton was one of seven businesses in Medicine Hat’s south end damaged by who police say was the same suspect.

Windows were broken on several vehicles and a phone box was also vandalized, according to a police statement.

The Medicine Hat Police Service is asking for the public’s help to identify a male suspect wearing what appears to be a dark jacket and jeans.

When cleaning staff arrived at the restaurant, which opened in Medicine Hat just over one month ago — around 4:30 a.m., they called police.

Security video footage later showed the employees arrived about 10 minutes after the suspect left the scene, according to restaurant co-founder Josh Robinson.

“The [suspect] not only smashed a few windows at the front of our restaurant…but he also went through and smashed every single piece of custom glass on our nice patio,” Robinson told CHAT News.

“We’re going to do our best to get [the patio] open as soon as possible,” he added.

Despite the damage, Blowers and Grafton remains fully open to guests, Robinson said.

Six businesses that were reportedly targeted have not yet been identified by police or verified by CHAT News.

An investigation is ongoing and the MHPS is requesting anyone with information related to the vandalism incidents to call 403-529-8481.

Business owners with video surveillance of the area around the time of the offence are asked to check their footage and report if they have video of the suspect to police.
