TABER, AB – The Taber Police Service (TPS) has placed a local man behind bars following an altercation.

At approximately 12:55 p.m. on Thursday, May 9, 2024, officers were called to a home in the community.

Police say a man, who was known to the victim, entered a home and pointed a pellet gun at the resident. The suspect reportedly demanded money and the keys to a vehicle.

“The male stole money and assaulted a female in the residence, then attempted to take the victim’s vehicle. An altercation took place at the vehicle, between the victim and the male, where the male pulled a knife,” says the TPS. “The male then attempted to spray the victim with bear spray.”

The man allegedly fled the area but returned when police arrived. He was arrested a short distance away.

The TPS says the pellet gun and stolen property was recovered.

Pedro Alejandro Friesen, 26, of Taber, faces 15 charges. He remains in custody following a bail hearing.
