Lethbridge Sport Council Introduces Summer Sport Drop-In Program

May 15, 2024 | 3:39 PM

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge Sport Council (LSC) has announced a new program which begins next week.

The Summer Sport Drop-In Program begins May 21st and runs every Monday to Thursday evening through June 26th. In July, the drop-ins will be moved to the mornings to avoid the heat.

The east end of the Nicholas Sheran Ice Centre parking lot will play host to the drop-in events. Equipment will be provided for activities from pickup street hockey and soccer, to pickleball and spike ball. Other events will also be held there, including Koob and Washer Toss.

The program is new for 2024, and was created by LSC with funding from Canadian Tire Jumpstart and ParticipACTION grants. LSC says their goal is to “provide a safe, inclusive, and fun environment for local youth to stay active, make new friends, and unleash their inner athlete.”

The Drop-In will offer a five-session multi-sport program featuring five different sports instructed by sport organizations, student-athletes, and coaches.

Information on the sessions can be found at LSC’s website.
