The University of Lethbridge has been announced as the host of the 2024 University Challenge Cup ringette tournament.

The tournament will have 16 university teams from across the country competing for the championships at the Cavendish Farms Centre from December 26-31.

Sue Stevenson, Head Coach of Pronghorns Ringette said, “We are extremely excited to host up to 16 university teams from across Canada. This is a great opportunity for Lethbridge ringette players to see firsthand how they can combine the sport they love with a post-secondary education under the Pronghorn banner.”

The Pronghorns participated in the tournament last year, which was held in Ottawa. There they won six games over the course of the tournament with two losses and a tie against the University of Calgary, and they earned a silver medal.

Stevenson added, “The team has a good core of returning players from last year’s silver medal showing at the UCCs and is actively recruiting to put a team on the ice that will contend for gold.”

2024 marks the first year the University of Lethbridge has held the tournament.
