VULCAN, AB – The RCMP in Vulcan is set to host an educational event focused on the effects of impaired driving.

On June 6, 2024, police and members of Vulcan County Emergency Services will host a mock impaired driving collision. The event will also show how first responders deal with impaired collisions and investigations.

The program will be held at the Cultural Recreation Centre (CRC) and start with a briefing that will include a video of a 911 call.

Attendees will then go outside for a live action demonstration.

Fire, EMS, RCMP, Vulcan County Peace Officers, RCMP Collision Analysts, RCMP Traffic Services and HALO Air Ambulance crews will showcase how they respond to a call, interact with victims and process the crime scene.

The event will also feature local partners AFAB Towing, the Vulcan Funeral Home and the Town of Vulcan. Once the collision scene is processed, attendees will go back into the CRC for a debrief from Fire and RCMP, and will see a presentation from Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD). The day will end with a community open house from 12 to 2 p.m. at the Tri Services building in Vulcan.
