LETHBRIDGE, AB – For those looking to spend some time in the coulees, fires are no longer allowed.

The City of Lethbridge has enacted a fire ban for the River Valley, which is in effect immediately and until further notice.

“The current weather conditions, including high temperatures, low humidity and forecasted winds, significantly increase the risk of fire. These factors contribute to extreme fire conditions,” reads a news release from the City of Lethbridge.

The ban means there is to be no use of the fire pits in the River Valley or any other burning activities.

Members of the public are also asked to exercise extreme caution when it comes to disposing of smoking materials, as they can easily ignite dry vegetation and cause uncontrolled fires.

More details on fire regulations are available on the City of Lethbridge website.
