LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) found far more than what they were looking for in a recent investigation.

At approximately 6:35 p.m. on Thursday, June 6, 2024, members of the Canine Unit were patrolling the area of the 500 block of 7 Street South.

Officers say they identified a dark blue truck that had been reported stolen on June 1. The driver of the truck was taken into custody.

While searching the vehicle, the LPS states that it found 123.1 grams of fentanyl (1,231 street doses), 27.7 grams of cocaine (27 street doses), and 324.2 grams of methamphetamine (2,872 street doses).

“The combined street value of the drugs is estimated to be over $40,000,” reads a media release from the police service.

Members also confiscated $1,720 in cash, multiple knives, a baton and bear spray.

Greg Petryga, 43, of Lethbridge, is charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, three counts of breach of undertaking, and one count each of possession of stolen property over $5,000 and possession of the proceeds of crime.

Petryga remains in custody and is awaiting a bail hearing.
