LETHBRIDGE, AB – A new person has been placed at the helm of local Catholic schools.

The Holy Spirit Catholic School Division has announced Dr. Scott Morrison will serve as interim superintendent.

He has spent the last 10 years as the Chief Superintendent for Christ the Redeemer Catholic Schools, which is based in Okotoks.

Morrison is also the Executive Director of the Council of Catholic School Superintendents of Alberta, an educational leadership instructor at St. Mary’s University and the University of Calgary, and has recently designed two leadership courses for the College of Alberta School Superintendents.

He has been an educator for the last 30 years in a variety of roles, including elementary and high school principal, division principal, and associate superintendent.

Board Chair Carmen Mombourquette says she and the rest of the Board of Directors are excited to have Morrison join their team.

“The Board of Trustees is looking forward to Dr. Scott Morrison’s leadership of the school division as we begin the search process for a new superintendent,” says Mombourquette. “Dr. Morrison has a long record of school and school division leadership in Alberta.”

The search for a new superintendent started when Ken Sampson announced his resignation in May 2024.

Morrison is expected to begin his new interim position in August and have the position filled permanently by November.
