Fort Macleod emergency department temporarily closed

Jun 20, 2024 | 9:14 AM

FORT MACLEOD, AB – Residents of Fort Macleod will be unable to access the town’s emergency department (ED) for about two days.

Alberta Health Services says the ED at the Fort Macleod Health Centre will be closed from 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 20, 2024 until 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 22.

The closure is due to a lack of physician coverage.

Anyone requiring emergency care is asked to phone 911. EMS calls will be redirected to Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge (49 km).

Patients can also access emergency medical services at the Pincher Creek Health Centre, Cardston Health Centre, or Chinook Regional Hospital.

Nursing staff in Fort Macleod will remain on-site to look after long-term care residents.

People with non-urgent health questions can phone Health Link at 811 any time.
