LETHBRIDGE, AB – The City of Lethbridge is gearing up for a day of activities for the entire family on Canada Day.

On Monday, July 1, 2024, the festivities will take place at two locations – Galt Gardens and Henderson Lake.

Events at Galt Gardens run from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and include a charity breakfast, food trucks, Show & Shine, live entertainment, kids activity stations, tipi & Indigenous education, and an artisan market.

The celebration at Henderson Lake starts at 11:00 a.m. Among the events there are live music and dance performances, kid-friendly activities, a youth market, food trucks, and, weather permitting, fireworks at 11:00 p.m.

Closer to the time of the fireworks, the City of Lethbridge will give its final verdict on whether fireworks will happen on its X account.

Canada Day Committee Co-Chair Janessa Brown says she is most excited for the new additions such as the stilt walkers and a bubble station at Henderson.

General Manager of Transportation and Transit Darwin Juell adds that another exciting part of the day is that transit will be free for the entire day.

“This is the first time ever, at least in 20 years to my history, we’ve done free Canada Day service all day from eight in the morning until close to midnight,” says Juell.

He explains that they will offer their regular statutory holiday transit service from 8:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m., including a stop at Mayor Magrath Drive South just outside of Henderson. There will also be free transit shuttle buses from 7:00 p.m.to 11:45 p.m.

Juell believes it will be much for convenient as you will not have to worry about parking lots at Henderson being full.
