LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) is investigating a fatal collision on Canada Day.

Just after 10:00 p.m. on Monday, July 1, 2024, police were called to the intersection of Mayor Magrath Drive South and 9 Ave South.

The LPS says a northbound motorcycle on Mayor Magrath collided with a white Honda Civic that was making a left turn into the parking lot of the Nikka Yuko Japanese Gardens.

“Investigation determined that speed was a factor in the collision,” reads a media release from police.

The rider of the motorcycle, a 28-year-old man from Lethbridge, suffered severe injuries and died on scene. His body has been taken to the Calgary Medical Examiner’s Officer for an autopsy.

The passenger of the Civic, a 39-year-old woman from Lethbridge, was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
