‘Alberta Day of Caring’ fundraises over $500K for Jasper aid

The Alberta Day of Caring for Jasper initiative — a one-day effort by radio stations across the province — fundraised a total of $518,482 on Wednesday.

That number grows to an estimated $1,555,446 when promised provincial and federal funding is included, according to a Canadian Red Cross update.

The small resort town and national park was ravaged by wildfire last week, with many people losing their homes and businesses.

The Day of Caring fundraiser, an effort led by Pattison Media, featured two ways to help: a bottle drive and direct Red Cross donations.
