Dawn Puckett of Lethbridge wins provincial weight loss contest

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Dawn Puckett has been named TOPS [Take Off Pounds Sensibly] Alberta’s Queen of 2023 for losing 80.5 pounds

TOPS Club is a non-profit charitable organization based out of the United States. It was founded in 1948 and has had over 180,000 members. It was created to help people lose weight healthily and with the proper amount of help and support. It has locations worldwide but is primarily in the United States and Canada.

Puckett says TOPS was a very safe place for her to lose weight.

“At first it was really a shock. The thought never crossed my mind that I would have been in this position. I thought there were others with more losses that needed to be recognized,” says Puckett.

In response to how supportive the group members were and how it helped her to lose weight, she said, “Nobody [at TOPS] ever puts you down. Nobody. They encourage you even more because you’ve had a little bit of a hiccup.”

She states, “Everyone is equal, you are there for the same thing.”.

Besides having a healthy mindset, Puckett says one of the main things she learned in order to lose weight and keep it off was to start simply walking more.
