Fort Macleod emergency department to temporarily close Monday

Aug 10, 2024 | 8:31 AM

FORT MACLEOD, AB – Residents of Fort Macleod will need to seek emergency healthcare elsewhere.

Alberta Health Services (AHS) says the emergency department at the Fort Macleod Health Centre will temporarily close on Monday, August 12, 2024, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The temporary closure is due to a lack of physician coverage.

All 911 calls in the community during this time will be re-routed to Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge, which is 49 kilometres away.

Patients can also access emergency care at the Pincher Creek Health Centre, Cardston Health Centre, Claresholm Community Health Centre or Chinook Regional Hospital.

Anyone with non-urgent health questions can phone Health Link at any time at 811.

Nursing staff will remain on-site at the facility in Fort Macleod to look after long-term care residents.
