LETHBRIDGE, AB – A Calgary man will stand trial next spring after allegedly trying to bring a significant quantity of drugs across the border.

Appearing in the Lethbridge Court of Justice earlier this month, five days of trial time was set aside for Kamalpreet Singh, 28, of Calgary.

He was arrested on November 19, 2023, after allegedly being pulled aside at the Coutts border crossing for a secondary examination.

Inspectors with the Canada Border Services Agency claim to have found 52 kilograms of cocaine inside the commercial truck, which was estimated to have a street value of approximately $3 million.

Singh is charged with one count each of importation of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, and smuggling into Canada.

The trial is scheduled to run from April 28 to May 2, 2025 in Lethbridge.
