Lethbridge Hurricanes fall 5-3 to Calgary Friday

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes are now 1-and-2 in pre-season action.

The Canes welcomed the Calgary Hitmen to the VisitLethbridge.com Arena on Friday, September 13, 2024.

It was a fairly even contest until the third period.

The Hitmen opened scoring at 4:12 in the first period, while Hayden Pakkala hit the net for Lethbridge on a power play four minutes later.

Kooper Gizowski brought the Hurricanes into the lead with two minutes remaining in the first period.

The second period saw Calgary bounce back with two goals before Logan McCutcheon evened things up at 3-3 by the end of the period.

The Hitmen dominated the final period with another two goals, bringing the final score to 5-3.

Despite the loss, two members of the Lethbridge Hurricanes were recognized as Pakkala was the second start of the game and Gizowski was third.

The Canes have one final pre-season game on Sunday, September 15, travelling to Medicine Hat to face the Tigers.

The WHL regular season home opener for the Lethbridge Hurricanes is Friday, September 20 as they welcome the Edmonton Oil Kings.
