LETHBRIDGE, AB – A local not-for-profit organization is looking to help Lethbridge families as the weather gets colder.

The Every Voice Matters Society (EVMS), in partnership with the Lethbridge School Division, City of Lethbridge and Lethbridge Police Service (LPS), are collecting winter items to give to youth in the city.

Jackets, toques, mittens, boots, gloves, sweaters and other winter clothes are needed for kids in grades Kindergarten to Grade 12. They are also looking for donations for adults, including seniors, vulnerable people, and people in need.

The initiative is the first for EVMS, who are aiming to raise $10,000 to $15,000 to fulfil the need of around 200 items or more, according to executive director Suketu Shah.

LPS Chief Shahin Mehdizadeh says the initiative is a vital one for the city.

“Anything we can do to support our youth, which means an investment in our youth, is an investment in our future.”

Clothes for donation can be dropped off at the Lethbridge Police Station.
