Hurricanes’ Cleaver named WHL Goaltender of the Week
LETHBRIDGE, AB – A Lethbridge Hurricanes player has been recognized for his excellent performance in the first weekend of the season.
Hurricanes goaltender Koen Cleaver has been named the Western Hockey League (WHL) Goalie of the Week. This comes after Cleaver registered the first win of his WHL career on Saturday night over the Red Deer Rebels.
In the game, the 17-year-old dominated in the crease, stopping 30 of the 31 shots he faced to lead his team to a 2-1 overtime victory. He was named the game’s first star for putting up a stunning .968 save percentage.
Cleaver joined the Hurricanes after being selected in the third round of the 2022 WHL Prospects Draft. He is an eligible prospect for the 2025 NHL Draft.
