Playwright Chelsea Woolley receives U of L Young Alumni Award
LETHBRIDGE, AB – Canadian playwright Chelsea Woolley has been awarded the University of Lethbridge Alumni Association (ULAA)’s 2024 Young Alumni Award.
Woolley graduated from the U of L in 2014, and during her time as a student, she was a two-time winner of the Play Right Prize competition as an undergraduate student. Woolley also received the Faculty of Education Gold Medal as the most distinguished graduate of her class.
After graduation, she launched a performing arts program for at-risk and under-housed youth in downtown Toronto. The program helps the youths by allowing them to work with professional artists and learn how to create unique musical and theatre pieces.
In addition to that, she has also partnered with UNICEF Canada for the development of a new play on the Charter of the Rights of the Child and is currently the Head of Drama with the Canadian Children’s Opera Company.
