Cardston woman wins $1 million LOTTO MAX draw

CARDSTON, AB – A local woman has become a millionaire.

The Western Canada Lottery Corporation says Beth Ann Day Chief won $1 million in the August 6, 2024 LOTTO MAX Draw.

She purchased her ticket from the Northside Gas King at 955 5 Avenue North in Lethbridge, perfectly matching one of the MAXMILLIONS selections.

Day Chief was at London Drugs a few days later with her grandson when she checked her ticket.

“I handed it to the retailer to confirm it, and his eyes went really big,” Day Chief laughed. “He said, ‘OMG you won a million dollars! This has never happened before in this store!’”

As the two were leaving, her grandson made a request for how to spend some of her winnings, asking to go to the arcade.

Day Chief also plans to take her family to Hawaii.
