Wind warning issued for southwest Alberta

CROWSNEST PASS, AB – Environment Canada says powerful winds are expected in a parts of southern Alberta.

They have issued a wind warning for communities including Crowsnest Pass, Waterton Lakes National Park, Pincher Creek, Fort Macleod, Magrath, Cardston and Del Bonita.

Wind gusts up to 100 km/hr are expected Tuesday afternoon, October 1, 2024. They should die down throughout the evening.

“Damage to buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows, may occur,” reads the weather alert from Environment Canada. “High winds may toss loose objects or cause tree branches to break. Motorists, especially in high profile vehicles, may expect hazardous driving conditions on highways subject to strong cross winds.”
