LETHBRIDGE, AB – Most people would consider themselves lucky to win the lottery once, and if that is the case, one man from Lethbridge must be extremely lucky.

The Western Canada Lottery Corporation (WCLC) says David Serkin won $500,000 on the August 20, 2024 LOTTO MAX draw.

He says he scanned his ticket on the Lotto Spot app and then showed his wife and brother.

“They needed a double-take,” Serkin laughed. “My wife asked if I’d won $5,000 and I said, ‘No, $500,000!’”

Serkin has previously won $250,000 in the lottery around 12 years ago.

He says he plans to share his winnings with his wife and take his friends out to dinner.

The winning ticket was purchased from the Circle K at 717 6 Avenue South in Lethbridge. Serkin split the MAXMILLIONS prize with another person from Alberta, who has yet to be announced.

The WCLC says there were also three winners of the LOTTO MAX Dream Big Contest from Alberta, each of whom will claim $10,000 in the weekly contest. They are Marian B., Garry L., and Gregory V.
