LETHBRIDGE, AB – Three Lethbridge Hurricanes have been listed as players to watch ahead of the 2025 NHL Draft.

Will Sharpe, Kash Andresen and Koen Cleaver have all cracked the list created by NHL Central Scouting.

NHL Central Scouting uses a five-category rating system to project where a player could be drafted.

An ‘A’ rating indicates a potential first-round candidate. ‘B’ rated players are expected to be second or third round draft picks. A ‘C’ rating suggests that a player could be a fourth or fifth-round pick while a ‘W’ rating indicates that a player could be a sixth or seventh-round pick. ‘LV’ recognizes a player who haven’t had sufficient viewing to be categorized.

Sharpe was the highest rated of the three, being given a C rating. The 6’1 defenceman has had an excellent start to the season, putting up two goals and eight assists for 10 points in the team’s first eight games. The former Hurricanes first-round pick also represented Team Canada at the 2023 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge and took part in the 2024 Hlinka Gretzky Cup Showcase.

Cleaver was given a W rating by Central Scouting. The netminder has taken over the role as the Hurricanes’ backup after Harrison Meneghin was traded to the Medicine Hat Tigers. Cleaver has also started strong in his three starts, and was named the WHL Goaltender of the Week in the first week of the season.

Andresen was also given a W rating. The Saskatoon product joined the Hurricanes last season after being drafted in the second round of the 2022 WHL Draft. He has recorded three points along with six penalty minutes in nine games so far this season.

In total, 55 WHL players were ranked by NHL Central Scouting on the Preliminary Rankings.
