Medicine Hat motorcyclist dies in Highway 1 collision near Redcliff

A 66-year-old Medicine Hat man has died after sustaining injuries in a motor vehicle collision involving a motorcycle and a SUV on Highway 1 by Redcliff.

Redcliff RCMP, the Redcliff Fire Department and paramedics were dispatched to the crash site at 5:13 p.m. on Sunday evening.

The motorcycle driver was transported to the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital with life-threatening injuries. He later succumbed to his injuries and died in hospital.

The driver of the SUV was uninjured.

Both vehicles were headed eastbound.

The highway remained closed for several hours while an RCMP collision analyst was deployed to the scene.

The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
