Lethbridge police officer facing assault charge

Nov 6, 2024 | 8:20 AM

LETHBRIDGE, AB – A Lethbridge Police officer has been charged in connection with an on-duty incident.

On Tuesday, November 5, the constable was charged with assault stemming from an incident May 10, 2023 in the LPS Short Term Holding Facility. A physical altercation, that did not result in any injuries, occurred while a male prisoner was being booked into cells.

The matter came to light upon review of the officer’s Use of Force Report, which is required to be filled out when any force is used besides handcuffing and escorting.

An investigation was forwarded to the Alberta Crown Prosecution Service for review and they recommended a charge of assault for the officer.

Chris Stock, a 23-year member of the Service, is scheduled to appear in court December 10.
