BROOKS, AB – The RCMP is continuing to investigate a major collision in southern Alberta.

Officers were called to the intersection of Highways 36 and 542, just west of Brooks, at approximately 9:18 a.m. on Saturday, November 16, 2024.

They say an SUV and a pickup truck collided.

A 51-year-old woman from Scandia, Alberta, was declared deceased on scene.

Six others, some of whom were children, were taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The road was closed for several hours while officials conducted an investigation, which is still ongoing.

The exact cause of the collision has yet to be determined but the RCMP says poor road conditions are believed to have been a factor.
