LETHBRIDGE, AB – The people of Lethbridge have weighed in on how good of a job they think their local police service is doing.

A survey conducted by PRA Inc. for the Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) saw 400 adults in Lethbridge give their input between July 2-16, 2024.

Around 84 per cent of respondents said they are satisfied with LPS, a number that has marginally increased from 83 per cent in 2023 and 78 per cent in 2022.

“These results are very encouraging and I’m proud of our members for the work they do every day to provide a safe community for all,” said Chief Shahin Mehdizadeh. “Collecting feedback from the people we serve helps ensure we have a better understanding of the community’s needs and priorities so we can work to action what they’ve told us in our operational planning for the coming year.”

70 per cent said they feel safe in Lethbridge. While that is up from 65 per cent last year, it is still quite a bit below the long-term trend. Prior to 2020, that number was over 90 per cent every year.
