Canada Post shares another update on strike negotiations

Nov 27, 2024 | 6:00 AM

Canada Post says in its latest update on strike negotiations with CUPW, that talks have “ground to a halt.”

Canada Post says it remains committed to the bargaining process and put forward a detailed proposal “to bring more flexibility to its outdated mode of delivery.”

However, Canada Post says they’ve been informed through a special mediator that CUPW will not be responding to the proposal at all.

Since a special mediator was brought in on November 18, “progress has only been made on minor items,” according to Canada Post.

Despite the limited progress, Canada Post says they remain committed to a new mail delivery mail model, which would add a greater mix of part-time and full-time employees to begin weekend delivery and respond better to varying daily parcel amounts.

Yesterday, (Tuesday, November 26) CUPW responded to earlier claims from Canada Post, calling them “an outright misrepresentation.”
