LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Prince Albert Raiders handed the Lethbridge Hurricanes a 3-2 loss on Saturday, November 30, 2024.

The Hurricanes were looking to return to the win column for the first time in six games, but ran into a red-hot Raiders team who had won eight of their last 10 games.

In the first period, the Raiders wasted no time getting the game started, with Brayden Dube finishing off a slick passing play with a goal just 29 seconds in to make it 1-0.

Later in the frame, following a penalty to Raiders defenceman Tyrone Sobry, Miguel Marques took a pass from Noah Chadwick and fed it across the slot to Brayden Edwards, who fired it past a sprawling Dimitri Fortin to tie the game at one goal apiece. The goal was Edwards’ 13th of the season, tying him with Logan Wormald for the team lead.

The goal would hold up as the final one of the period, with the Hurricanes killing of their second penalty of the game.

The second period proved to be crucial for the game, with the final three goals of the contest. At the 11:42 mark of the frame, Hurricanes forward Trae Johnson took the puck behind the net and fed it to Hayden Pakkala, who buried his fourth of the year past Fortin to make it 2-1 against his former team. Will Sharpe added the second assist on the goal.

However, the Raiders would bounce back soon, with Dube tallying another goal 1:59 later past Koen Cleaver. Later on, in the final minute of the second, Justice Christensen scored the eventual game winning goal on a shot from the point.

In the third, the Hurricanes managed to kill off two more penalties, but all five of their shots were stopped by Fortin to clinch a 3-2 victory for the Raiders.

Cleaver stopped 23 of 26 shots in the game for Lethbridge.

With the loss ending a long road trip for the team, the Hurricanes will return to Lethbridge on Tuesday, December 3 to face off against the Moose Jaw Warriors.
