Lethbridge unemployment rate rises 0.5% in November
LETHBRIDGE, AB – Although jobs were added in many other parts of Alberta last month, that was not the case for Lethbridge.
Statistics Canada says the city’s unemployment rate rose to 5.7 per cent in November, compared to 5.2 per cent in October.
The number of employed people fell by 1,300, which coincides with 1,000 people leaving the labour pool altogether and no longer looking for work.
The population in the Lethbridge Census Metropolitan Area, which includes some immediately surrounding communities, rose by 500 to 119,300.
