Facebook, Instagram and other Meta apps experience outage

Facebook, Instagram and other Meta-owned social media platforms experienced widespread outages on Wednesday, the company said.

DownDetector, a website where users can report issues, shows a spike for several of Meta’s platforms, including Messenger, WhatsApp and Threads as well.

For example, Instagram outage reports jumped from a baseline from nearly zero to 13,338 around 11 a.m.

Meta acknowledged the issues in a post to X, saying it was “working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible”.

While outage reports have generally decreased on DownDetector, Meta has not yet confirmed all its services have returned to normal.
